Open Day Posponed

Kohatu Park's first public open day to view the site where the Park is to be established was to be on Sunday 22nd but was postponed late on 21st due to the risk of fire.

Volunteers worked hard all day to put mitigation measures in place but checking the conditions with regions chief rural fire officer the risk and consequence was deemed too great to have hundreds of visitors at the site.

The main issue was along the access road through the forestry which will be widened and have fire breaks as Kohatu Park becomes operational and will mitigate the risk in the future.

We still had a great day with over 100 people visiting our display at the Kohatu Flat Rock Café and look over the plans. We have left the Kohatu Park simulator there so people can try it out, so make sure you check it out.

The Board will be meeting shortly to fix another date for a site visit in a couple of months time, we will let you know as soon as.
